We sincerely invite you to attend World Ocean Week in Xiamen [2011] (WOW 2011) that will be held on November 4-10, 2011 in Xiamen, the beautiful coastal city in Southeast China.
Last year, WOW 2010 had been successfully held on November 5-11, in which over 200 officials, experts and delegates from 40 countries and regions, over 10 international organizations, relevant ministries and commissions of China as well as domestic and foreign coastal cities had shown active participation. During the week, 7 marine-themed forums, 1 marine-themed exhibitions, and over 10 marine cultural activities with extensive participation by the public had been staged. With fruitful results generated, it has won approvals from relevant international organizations and participants, and has received close attention from the press and media.
WOW 2011 will be jointly sponsored by China State Oceanic Administration (SOA), United Nations Development Program China (UNDP China), Xiamen Municipal Government, Partnerships in Environmental Management for the Seas of East Asia (PEMSEA) and Xiamen University. with the theme of "Land-Sea Integration for Sustainable Marine Economy—Land-Sea Integration for marine economy planning, The activities of WOW 2011 will consist of three parts, namely, the International Ocean Forums, the Marine-themed Exhibitions and the Marine Cultural Activities.
In the Main Forum of WOW 2011, discussions and communications will be conducted centering on topics such as: "Opportunities on Marine Economy Planning"; "Regional Cooperation on Marine Economy Planning-Experience from APEC" and "Scientific Support to Marine Economy Planning".
